Product Description

Pumice stone is also known as light stone or floating rock. It has a low density (0.3 - 0.4) and is a porous, lightweight, glassy acidic volcanic extrusive rock. Its composition is similar to rhyolite. The pumice here is a dense glassy lava with numerous pores formed by the solidification of molten magma during a volcanic eruption, and the volume of the pores accounts for more than 50% of the total volume of the rock.

Nature

1.The stone that can float: This is its most obvious characteristic. Its extremely low density makes it an ideal choice for natural lightweight aggregates, which can be used to make lightweight concrete, insulation materials, etc., significantly reducing the weight of buildings. 

2.The natural sandblaster: Due to its surface being covered with sharp glass-like edges and having a moderate hardness, pumice is an extremely ideal natural abrasive. It can effectively remove dead skin and calluses without causing damage to the skin or objects like metal abrasives do. 

3.Hydrophilic sponge: The numerous internal pores give it strong water absorption and retention capabilities. In gardening, it can be used as a soil conditioner to absorb and slowly release water; in industry, it can also be used as a filtering material or water-absorbing medium. 

4.Soundproof and heat-insulating barrier: The porous structure results in a low thermal conductivity and excellent sound absorption performance. It can be processed into building materials such as soundproof boards and insulation bricks.

 

Formation Process	Formed when acidic volcanic lava (such as rhyolite or andesite) erupts and rapidly cools under immense pressure, causing internal gases to expand and escape. Simply put, it is the product of solidified magma foam.
Physical Appearance	It generally appears white, light gray, or pale yellow, with a few specimens turning brown due to impurities. It features a typical vesicular texture, resembling a charred, riddled piece of foam.
Hardness and Density	Mohs hardness is 5.5 - 6, but due to its porosity, the overall texture is loose and brittle. It has an extremely low density, typically 0.3 - 0.5 g/cm³, lighter than water, enabling it to float on the surface.
Chemical Composition	The primary component is silicon dioxide (SiO2), accounting for about 60-75%, along with aluminum oxide, potassium oxide, sodium oxide, and others.

1.Construction industry: Pumice, due to its porous structure, is often used as a lightweight building material, such as for insulation, soundproofing, and for the production of concrete components. 
2.Cement manufacturing: Pumice has high activity and can be used as an active admixture for cement or as a raw material for non-clinker cement. 
3.Abrasive: Specific pumice can be made into abrasives, which are used for cleaning optical glass, circuit boards, etc. 
4.Polishing agent: Microscopic pumice powder can be used for polishing optical glass, plastic products, etc. 
5.Chemical industry: Pumice can be used as a filter, a drying agent, and a filler in industries such as plastics and rubber. 
6.Agriculture: Pumice can be used as a carrier for pesticides or fertilizers.
