This product is obtained by crushing and separating barium sulfate-containing ores. It serves as a weighting agent for circulating mud in rotary drilling of oil and gas wells, cooling drill bits, removing drilled cuttings, lubricating drill pipes, sealing borehole walls, controlling reservoir pressure, and preventing blowouts.

Product usage

Used in paints, inks, pigments, rubber, batteries, plastics, chips, friction plates, ceramics, glass, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and copper plate machines.

Main Functions

1.Balance formation pressure and prevent blowouts (core safety function) :

As the drilling depth increases, the pore pressure of the formation will rise. By adding barite powder to the drilling fluid, the density of the drilling fluid can be increased, thereby raising the hydrostatic column pressure within the wellbore.

When the pressure of the hydrostatic column is slightly greater than the formation pressure, it can effectively suppress high-pressure oil, gas and water layers, preventing them from flowing into the wellbore uncontrollably. This is the key to ensuring drilling safety and avoiding blowout accidents.

2. Control the intrusion of formation fluids

Maintaining a sufficient density of drilling fluid can prevent formation fluids (oil, gas, water) from invading the drilling fluid, maintain the stability of drilling fluid performance, and ensure the smooth progress of drilling operations.

3. Stabilize the well wall

Appropriate liquid column pressure can provide mechanical support for the wellbore, prevent the collapse or diameter reduction of fragile formations (such as shale), and maintain the regularity and stability of the wellbore.

4. Carrying and suspending drill cuttings:

High-density drilling fluid helps to carry cuttings (drill cuttings) at the bottom of the well to the surface more effectively. When the circulation stops (such as when connecting the drill pipe), the weighted drilling fluid can also better suspend the drill cuttings and barite itself, preventing their rapid sedimentation and causing complex situations such as sand settling and stuck drill.

5. Provide power for downhole tools

In turbine drilling tools or downhole motors, high-density drilling fluid can provide greater water horsepower, driving the drill bit to break rocks more quickly.
