Nature

Tourmaline belongs to the triclinic crystal system. The crystals are in the form of long columns or needles, and the ends of the columns often present different conical surfaces.
The hardness is 7 to 7.5. The density is approximately 3 g/cm³. The fracture is conchoidal, with a glassy luster. It is transparent or opaque, and has thermoelectric properties.
